Top 3 BIG DARN DEALS Chapter 4

I thought I knew most of the basics about computers until I read Chapter 4.

1. First and foremost I never knew what RAM or ROM meant I knew it had something to do with memory but never knew that there was a difference between the two, being volatile and permanent. Now I know that RAM= Random Access Memory and is volatile meaning that it is not permanent. ROM=Read-Only Memory and is non-volatile which means PERMANENT.

2. I was always confused when it came to memory sizes, like KB, MB, GB, and TB. Now I know that KB is kilobytes, GB is Gigabytes, MB is megabytes, and TB is terabyte. I've heard of megabytes and gigabytes but not the other two. I also never knew which one was smaller and larger. But now I know that KB= 1 thousand, MB= 1 million, GB= billion, TB= 1 trillion. So KB is obviously the smallest out of all four and TB is the largest.

3. I think it was pretty cool doing the Motherboard lab because I've never seen the inside of a computer. I probably have once but didn't know what I was looking at. It still looked confusing when I seen it in the book and in the lab but at least now I can identify where things go on it and compare it to a residential piece of land with buses and tree poles like the lab referred it as.
